MTN Late Chat Promotions take on Educational Angle

Kampala, Uganda: MTN Late Chat campus promotions are taking on an educative turn this year. The activities scheduled today will feature various guest inspirational and motivational speakers. This, according to Gasper Mbowa, MTN’s Segment Manager is meant to "educate and inspire the students to become better people".

"We intend to visit about 18 institutions of higher learning and on top of bringing MTN closer to the students and offering them greater experiences, we have included highly skilled and experienced young speakers who can relate to the students and inspire them to pursue their goals more purposefully," Mbowa stated.

This year’s campus events have also been motivated by the success recorded last year during the MTN Late Chat tariff repackaging tours around campuses. Mbowa added, "Today’s youth are dynamic and always looking out for exciting things. Their response to last year’s promotion convinced us of the need to engage more with this customer audience in ways that will actually lead to them making life impacting choices that will give them the best futures."

Some of the prizes up for grabs during the promotions will include Nokia 5130 phones preloaded on MTN Late Chat with UGX 1,000 worth of airtime. The phones have inbuilt MP3/MP4, FM radio, 1GB memory, mega pix camera and Xpress audio messaging. Customers who buy this handset automatically win themselves, gift packs from MTN and Nokia.

There will also be an automatic entry into the weekly draws for customers who send the most MMS or SMS. Some of the other prizes up for grabs will include home theaters, TV’s, Nokia phones, airtime and t-shirts.

Mbowa sighted the reduced tariffs of sending an MMS as another reason why students should take part in the promotion. "We have reduced the cost of MMS from UGX 300 to UGX 150 to make the product more affordable to the students. It's the lowest and most inexpensive rate in the market today!"
