MTN Uganda Foundation-NCS kick start work on Lugogo Indoor Stadium

Release date:7/17/2009
Kampala, Uganda: Works on the much anticipated facelift of the Lugogo Indoor Stadium were officially flagged off by the projects backers, MTN Uganda Foundation the National Council of Sports at a ground breaking ceremony held today at the sports complex.
The indoor stadium, a home to most of Uganda’s indoor sports has been in dire need of renovation following years of neglect over time despite its popularity for games such as basketball, badminton, netball, table tennis and many others. This was the main reason that prompted the MTN Uganda Foundation to give the stadium a facelift by injecting over UGX 700m in the project.
Speaking during the function, the Patron of the MTN Uganda Foundation, Dr. Eric Adriko reiterated the Foundations greater objectives of ensuring that Uganda becomes one of Africa’s leading sporting nations through its programmes to support sports development.
“This is proof of MTN’s support for commitment and dedication to ones dreams and aspirations of becoming great sports personalities and we will be sure to step in and provide the necessary support whenever there’s a need and the Foundation is able,” said Adriko.
The NCS General Secretary Jasper Aligawesa promised that the Council will account for every penny that MTN Uganda Foundation has committed to the project. This, he reasoned, “Will be the only way NCS will maintain a great working relationship with MTN and the MTN Uganda Foundation and also attract other companies in case of future projects.”
