MTN opens New Service Centre

Release date:5/6/2009
Kampala, Uganda: MTN Uganda has opened a new customer service center on Kampala Road with the aim of taking services as close as possible to its clients. The move reaffirms the company’s commitment to ensuring the highest levels of service in an industry that has become increasingly competitive and through which the echelon of customer service continues to play a key differentiating factor.
As MTN continues to strive to provide the best possible services to its customers, the company’s CEO, Noel Meier commented, “Opening yet another service center in the heart of the city confirms our commitment to bringing our products and services as close to our customers as possible. Having a one-stop solutions center such as this within close proximity to everyday business men and women provides convenience of service and allows for one to focus on his or her business objectives.”
Situated at the exact same location which housed the offices of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) before they were relocated to Lumumba Avenue, it was fitting that the newly refurbished state of the art MTN Service Center was officially opened by the UIA Executive Director, Dr. Maggie Kigozi. Observing the new look of her old office block, Dr. Kigozi applauded MTN for its continued investment in the economy and the infrastructure of the country even after more than 10 years in existence.
“When MTN was licensed to operate and provide telecommunications services in Uganda in 1998, it was expected to contribute to the growth and expansion of our economy and not only has MTN done so, but it has surpassed all our expectations in meeting its licence obligations as well as showing true commitment to the development of Uganda.” said Dr. Kigozi. “We as custodians of the investment portfolio in the country are pleased when indeed investors fulfill their obligations in all possible ways. And seeing the newly renovated and made-over look of my former office is a very pleasant surprise.” she added.
In a bid to further its customer service and network coverage advantage across the country, MTN will be installing regional switch boards in Mbarara, Masindi and Tororo, a move geared towards the extension of services closer to customers based in the regions. As MTN continues to introduce new services in the market such as the recently launched MTN Mobile Money, the company remains true to its core values of bringing relevant products and services closer to customers.
The opening of the Kampala Road customer services center brings to seven the number of such MTN one-stop solutions centers across the country and  takes the competition within the telecom sector back to the basics of excellent service delivery, listening to customers’ feedback and making well targeted adjustments, that all add up to greater customer satisfaction.
