MTN Contributes US$10,000 to Stephen Kiprotich

Kampala, Uganda – MTN Uganda has contributed US$10,000 to Olympic Gold Medalist Stephen Kiprotich to congratulate him on his gallant victory at the London 2012 Olympic Marathon.

MTN Uganda contributes UGX. 50 million towards the Ebola outbreak

MTN Uganda has contributed Ushs50million towards efforts to handle the Ebola outbreak in Uganda. The Ushs50million contribution will go towards purchasing items for the Uganda Red Cross Society.

Handing over the contribution to the Uganda Red Cross Society this morning at MTN Towers, MTN Chief Executive Officer Mazen Mroue saluted health workers in Uganda for being heroes in the fight against Ebola.

MTN Mobile Money changing the way Ugandans pay their bills

On 12th July 2012, UMEME launched bill payments by Mobile Money together with real-time bank reconciliations. This means that customers can now avoid disconnections caused by delayed payment reconciliations. The instant payment solution launched under the banner ‘Touch Pay Solutions’, was unveiled by Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, at the Kampala Serena Hotel this morning.


MTN has partnered with Umeme to offer a more convenient electricity bill payment platform in the form of the MTN Mobile Money - Umeme Payment.

Up until now, UMEME customers would only travel short or long distances to the nearest Umeme Centre to clear their bill in order to avoid disconnection of power from their premises.

MTN contributes to Bududa victims

MTN Uganda, through the MTN Foundation, today announced a contribution of Ushs 50 million towards re-settlement efforts for victims of the landslide in Bududa, Eastern Uganda.

MTN Chief Executive Officer, Mazen Mroue, said today that the money would be handed to the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) to purchase Non-Food items for 312 of the 450 families affected by the landslide.
