MTN Cameroon recognised for its people management practices

Release date:2/3/2015
MTN Cameroon, the leader in the provision of communication solutions and mobile payment services in Cameroon, has received the Investors in People (IiP) Standard Gold accreditation by the IiP Governing Board in the United Kingdom, following a rigorous assessment that ran from 19-30 January 2015.

MTN Cameroon is the first and only company in Cameroon to attain this impressive accolade in people management practices from an independent and internationally-recognised body.

MTN Group Chief Human Resources and Corporate Affairs Officer, Paul Norman, said the Group is proud of this outstanding achievement by MTN Cameroon. “Congratulations to the staff, management and HR team at MTN Cameroon on this sterling achievement. IiP Gold accreditation is the top standard which an organisation can achieve for its people management practices and as an organisation we are very proud of this accomplishment.”

MTN Cameroon CEO, Karl Toriola, announced the achievement to staff and highlighted the importance of their contribution to the company. “The strength of every leading organisation is its human capital. MTN Cameroon is no exception. We value local talent, and have arguably implemented the most successful policy of nationalisation and development of our people. I salute the support of Management towards our people-management achievements and equally acknowledge the work done by the HR team as well as every employee who has integrated our corporate values and Vital Behaviours in their daily activities, with a direct positive impact on internal and external customer experience.”

As an IiP-accredited organisation, Cameroon’s telecommunications market leader is further positioned as an employer of choice and recognised for strides in developing local talent into world-class executives, as well as its people management policies and practices which make it truly a great place to work.

According to Ian Arbuckle, Investors in People Assessor, “Higher accreditation proves an organisation is committed to continuous improvement. People are proud, and organisations benefit through sharing experiences of good practices with other companies. It is also an opportunity to become IiP champions and Ambassadors”.

The IiP Framework is the only ‘people-oriented’ internationally recognised business improvement framework and quality standard. MTN Group has adopted the Investors in People as its people management standard. Website: www.investorsinpeople.co.uk
