MTN HotSpot Terms and Conditions

MTN HotSpot
is a WiFi service that enables customers to access the internet. Generally the most common use of the service is on laptops, tablets and smartphones. Customers will require a WiFi enabled device, sufficient credit and they need to be in an area that is under MTN HotSpot coverage.

The MTN HotSpot service provides internet users convenience and mobility. Customers in some areas will require a wifi booster, available in MTN service centers, to access the service.

  • The service is available to both MTN prepaid and postpaid customers and also to non MTN customers.
  • MTN customers can register for the service by using a USSD code *150*3# or the MTN HotSpot portal. Registration is FREE.
  • Non MTN customers can register for the service using the MTN HotSpot portal only. Registration is FREE.
  • Non MTN customers must enter a valid MTN airtime voucher to validate their accounts.
  • To access the MTN HotSpot portal the customer should be in MTN HotSpot coverage.
  • A customer will use this user name and password each time they log onto the service.

  • The MTN HotSpot Selfcare Portal will be zero rated for access
  • Upon activation of the MTN HotSpot account, an SMS message will be sent to the number provided by the customer confirming that the registration has been successful. The message will contain the username (phone number) and password.
  • MTN BlackBerry customers, whose service is active, will not have access to the service. They shouldn’t incur additional charges associated with MTN HotSpot access.
  • Incorrect voucher entries will result into suspension of the account. Contact customer services should this happen.
  • A non-MTN customer’s account will be deleted in the event of inactivity (not logging on or topping up) over a period of beyond 30 days.
  • An MTN customer’s account will be suspended in the event of inactivity (not logging on or topping up) over a period of 90 days. 
  • An MTN customer’s account will be deleted in the event of inactivity (not logging on or topping up) over a period of the 120 days.
